Todaywe are going to look into this pendant design, and how to get a rope wrap aroundthe shape. Are you ready?

let's get started! we're going to use the commandcall picture, and you can bring in any reference image that you have there.Deciding what size you want it first and then you kind of wanted to move it fromthis point or any things that you think is right in the middle, and just type itzero there so that will be symmetrical and we only need to deal with the halfof it now once you have into the sizethat you wanted, then you want designs to lock the object. We want to get it asclose as possible, and type in zero and I'm going to go from here. This is abasic form you don't have to have pendant it exactly the same, or you can change itlater if you want to, but I basically want to do something like this. Get it asclose to the form as possible and we can change it later if we don't like it. and I also like to do is make sure thatI can align to the bottom, so make sure that your smart track is on, and snappinginto this endpoint, and then moving your mouse up, so that way you can makesure the very last point is actually aligned with the bottom one, and justwant to make sure this is nice and round. so I'm going to move it up somethinglike this. Okay so that's one side. it's done.

The reason I have it this open isbecause

I want it to be nice and round so instead of just using the fillet, Ilike to use the blend tool and blend from here to here. okay so now we getthat finish we also need to have another curve. It's going to go from here to hereand again I pendant want to leave it open, so I can blend it to have a really nice andround form there. Alright and then let's use the blend tool and we want to blendit from this end to that end. Okay so now we have this one left.We can trace over, or we can use the arc tool, and snapping it to the end pointand the end point here, and coming up like that. So this will be the shapethat we have, also on the top right here so we're gonna throw the arc first. We'regonna snapping here, holding the SHIFT so then they will be the same height. if itis hard for you to get it exactly the  pendant shape you want, we can always createwhatever and moving down with this point close something like that. okay once wehave that we are going to mirror to the other side something like this, and youcan move this up a little bit to close the shape.

We're going to use the arctool one more time, and snapping here to here, and gonna bring out like this, andthen we are going to mirror to  pendant the other side and to get something like this. The last things we need to do is this curve, but I'm just gonna go ahead tohide the background first. Let's deal with this shape first. Mirror that to theother side. Let's go-ahead to join all those curves there and I do actuallywant a split with the point. This point over here and coming to the topsomewhere over there. Then we separate them top and the bottom, and wedo want to make an arc by snapping to the end point to this endpoint, and wewant to move it down something like this. okay so that will be the  bottom part nowwe need to making a profile to show that how designs deep we want. so let's go-aheadto snapping into the endpoint right here, and coming to the right side. I'mgoing to move it up like this, and coming over roughly about two millimeters orless, depends on your design, and you're gonna coming over here and move it downsomething like this. Alright and you can modify the design if you want to, and byjust showing how thick that is going to be. For easier for you to understand, I'mgoing to snapping into this point, and draw a straight line intersect with thecurve we just drew.

Let's go-ahead to split this one with this line.

So we getthat bottom over there, so we're going to give it a try.Let's do Sweep 2 rail, rail one, rail two, cross-section and you get something likethis. Then for the second part, we cannot sweep all the way tothere is because of this  pendant sharp corner there so we need to create another curve. Let'sgo ahead to snapping into this endpoint and to somewhere here, and then we willgo to the right view and to create a slightly caving something like this.we are going to sweep two, rail one, rail two and the cross-section. so you get something like that, and we are going tofinish with this rail one, rail two, and the same cross-section. Let's take a lookon the render view, and see if this is  designs the shape that you like. if you like thisshape we can just join them, and then Let's mirror to the other side. Alrightso now we finish this one, and double check if that is the shape that you like.now let's working on this part, we are going to join all of this. We are goingto split with the point right at this point, so we got two rails, and we need to decide the cross-section.

I'm going tocome in over here, and to draw something right here, and roughly look like thiscoming over here, and coming back to a line with my first point there, and thiswill be my cross-section, but I need to move that cross section to those pointsso the command I'm going to use under the transform, you have the orient 2 pointand make sure scale 3D and you actually don't need a copy. So we'regonna go from here to here, and snapping from here to here. So this is ourcross-section. We are going to use a sweep two rail one more time, rail one, rail two, cross-section and that's how you get this shape there. All we need todo is to create a surface by clicking that curve there, and we're gonna goextruded curve straight, and then we are going  pendant to use that surface to trim offthe extra that we have here, and at the same time, we're going to use thissurface to trim the extra over there. so now you can join those two surfaces.so to make them into solid. If this is like really thin to you, you can actuallymake them a bit thicker. You can pick up the curve that we have, and you canextrude it the surface straight, and depends on how deep you want to have designs .Let's say, I'm going to do one millimeter for thickness, and this one as well.I'm going to extrude it for one millimeter. so that way you can create athickness there, and if you like everything just go-ahead to joineverybody. and we can cap this one also, cap this one, so they both becomesolid we can bolding it later. we just need to mirror this one to theanother side.

Okay so now we have that this one in the middle is quite simple. wehave all those curves over there. First of all, I would like to join everybody, andkind of give it a fit at the corners, and I want creating a profile I'm gonna usethe arc tool snapping to the quadrant here quadrant here. Come into theright view, and make a cross-section pendant there so I'm going to split this one with thepoint right it here and here, and we are going to use a sweep two rail, rail onerail two, you and you're gonna start with the point the endpoint right here.Going to the middle coming back to designs the endpoint one more time, and youwill get something like this. If this is the position that you want that's fine.if you feel like you want them to be more pronounced like this, you can justmove it up and then we want to have this curve and this curve join back together.and we want to extrude straight, so then we will have the thickness as well. Let'sjoin it and so the very last things that we wantto do is to create this curve over there. so what I like to do is to come over tothe top view, and I'm going to draw a line follow this rope here.

Try not tosnapping anything. So I try to go by the middle of the rope and so it will looklike this. Now we have that, We need to kind of a moving up and down.Let's turn on the control point and then for the curve over here maybe  pendant thosethree. I want them to move higher. So it's gonna go like this. This comes intothe front and then they go in pass that. so the point roughly abouthere need to go behind the shape and this one is kind of going lower and whenthey coming into somewhere here those need to be higher. so I'm going to movethose up and try to make it as smooth as possible. Also you don't want them to be like way too high and then the very last one is going behindso we want this to go behind that piece and it will be something like this. okayso you got the curve that is wrapping around so first of all, we need to knowhow long is this piece, so we want to type a command length, and it designs is 33.564 millimeter We want to make a copy over therethen we want to create a straight line right here, and that is the same lengththat with the curve that is wrapping around. alright so this is the curve where we aregoing to create our rope. I'm going to hide the drawing so it's easier for usto see, and then I'm kind of coming over here to draw a circle. To draw a circleover there and this circle. It can be any size but try to keep keep itproportionally close to what we have over there.

And let's go-ahead to trimeach others, and I always like to give it a very nice small fillet, so that'sgiving a fillet for about only one millimeter is something really nice. Soit doesn't look too sharp on the rendering. Go ahead to join them andthen I wanted to align them right in their center so something like this andhave that shape pendant that we just have. We want to make it into the solid byextrude straight and snapping into the end so the next thing we wanted to do is weneed to twist it. Let's go-ahead to snapping into this end to this end.and I want to go like maybe six or eight I don't know I just need to try and seewhich one worked better and then so we get something like that. Alright and notice that it is tight and right in themiddle but getting really loose at the ends and designs I want to actually go fromreally tight the end to end so let me do one more time, and this time when we dothe twist command, we want to go from this end to this end, and when we try toturn we wanted to infinity equal yes, we want to preserve the structure yes, andmake sure both of them click yes. I'm going to try about 3 4 5 6 8 and thenso I will get something like this. hat would be even it frombeginning to the end. Now we have this we need tohave that going around this shape that we have it there.

So we are going to use transform, and we are going to flow along curve this will be the object, andthat is the base curve. that  pendant is the target curve. so we can have a shape likethis and you can adjust it more if you don't feel it flow really well. so that'sour anchor tutorial with the Rhino 6. I hope you enjoy. If you are interested inlearning Rhino in a more systematic way, I have a few courses on my website. you arewelcome to check it out thank you for watching and see you next!
